I honestly dont understand why this gets so much hate but I will review it:Half-Life: Before takes around 20-30 minutes to finish and has a bland story, but how much can you fit in 25 mins?!I didn't care much for the story, the gameplay was good, not great, good. The pistol and other models look great. The game gets slightly harder at the end and you gain new weapons around every new corner. I enjoyed the addition of the cutscenes as well as the music. The boss was interesting but I felt like it needed more.Also, its free!In short, I DO recommend that you get this and have a h\u03bblf hour of fun.. Half-Life: Before is a Half-Life mod that takes place presumably The Borealis (seen in Half-life 2 episode 2 and mentioned in portal 2)which contains the Xen crystal used in the first Half-Life game made by Valve. First the graphics are amazing and the soundtrack was really killer for a modification made by I guess several people. The gameplay is about 15 minutes long and for a speedrunner could be 10 minutes long. The game doesn't really explain much to you ,but the way I interpreted is your name is Andrew Winner from Black Stone ( a puppet of Black Mesa) and you just got done with sabotaging the Borealis' Portal technology powered by the Xen crystal making the Borealis pass through seveal dimensions including Xen and get the crystal. out of 10 i would give this a 6. 6\/10. I'll make this short.HL Before is a kick in the balls not only to every HL fan, but also for the whole HL universe and Valve.Poor english ("Spacial Thanks"? Are you kidding?), unstable framerate, easy boss battle, badly looped music, very short and please buy a decent microphone to the voice actor.This should be take as example of how NOT to do a videogame.At least it's free, so if you want to waste half an hour of your life without spending a cent, go play this.. Red-Mesa Should be the greenlit mod, not whatever the hell this is.Thats how bad this mod is.
